"The May 11 deposition of Georgia Legislative Counsel Sewell Brumby was filed on Sept. 24 as part of a lawsuit by Lamdba Legal on behalf of Vandy Beth Glenn. Glenn is a former editor in Brumby’s office who was fired after she announced her intentions to transition from male to female. Brumby is named in the lawsuit along with Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and Senate Pro-Tem Eric Johnson.

"...'I think it would have made it very uncomfortable and emotionally upsetting for me to communicate with Mr. Morrison under those circumstances, and I imagined that some other number of our employees would feel likewise,' he said.

"...Brumby couldn’t explain to Cole Thaler, the Lambda Legal attorney representing Glenn, why it was upsetting.
