"The advocacy law firm responsible for Iowa’s landmark same-sex marriage case and a lawsuit demanding that married lesbians both be named on their child’s birth certificate filed new court papers this morning challenging the removal of a parent’s name from the death certificate of a stillborn child.

"Lambda Legal, a New York-based law firm focused on the promotion of gay and lesbian rights, filed suit against the Iowa Department of Public Health today on behalf of Jenny and Jessica Buntemeyer, a married Davenport couple who say they’re seeking an accurate death certificate for their stillborn baby, Brayden.

"Polk County court papers say the couple originally listed both parents on a form filed to report the death to the state and indicated that they were married. Health Department officials sent the couple a death certificate in January with Jenny’s name erased."
