The Inaugural Trans 100: 100 Amazing Trans Americans You Should Know

Today, the inaugural Trans 100 list was released. From BuzzFeed:

The brainchild of We Happy Trans' Jen Richards and Antonia D'orsay, executive director of This Is How, the Trans 100 represents an effort — which will hopefully be reflected across the LGBT community — to break down implicit (and explicit) transphobia in media coverage by highlighting the diversity of trans Americans.

The Trans 100 is a list of "one hundred people who are actively doing serious, difficult work that is too often overlooked, too often ignored," said Toni D'orsay.

Lambda Legal is pleased to announce that our own Transgender Rights Attorney, M. Dru Levasseur, has been selected as a member of the inaugural 100. "Congratulations to Dru, who has been named among the leading transgender rights advocates," said Executive Director Kevin Cathcart. "He has shown amazing leadership and it is great to see the community appreciation for all of his groundbreaking work."

Levasseur focuses his work on impact litigation, advocacy and community education to advance the civil rights of transgender people nationwide. In 2007, he co-founded the Jim Collins Foundation, a nonprofit that raises money to fund gender-confirming surgeries.
