Lambda Legal Thanks Dennis Coleman and Charles MarLett

(Dallas, August 6, 2010) — Lambda Legal bids farewell to Dennis Coleman, former Director of the South Central Regional Office based in Dallas, and congratulates him on his new position as Executive Director of Equality Texas.

"We thank Dennis for his hard work and dedication to advancing the rights of LGBT people during his successful tenure as Regional Director for our South Central Regional Office," said Kevin Cathcart Executive Director of Lambda Legal. "We are certain that Dennis will continue to be a tireless advocate for LGBT Texans in his new role as Executive Director of Equality Texas."

"Further, we are grateful for the service of Chuck MarLett, former Lambda Legal Board Co-Chair, who has agreed to step in as interim Regional Director while we conduct a search to fill the position," Cathcart added.

Charles MarLett served on Lambda Legal's National Board of Directors from 2002 to 2008 and was a member of the Executive Committee for five years, including a two-year term as Board Co-Chair.

"I'm delighted to return to the Lambda Legal family. It's a wonderful organization and I have always been amazed with the dedication of the staff at Lambda Legal to the organization's mission. I hope that during this interim status I can continue with, and build upon, the critical work of Lambda Legal for the LGBT community," said Interim Regional Director Charles MarLett.

MarLett, an attorney, worked for 25 years in various executive positions at American Airlines Inc, its parent company AMR Corporation and their subsidiaries. In addition to his service on the Lambda Legal Board, MarLett has served on the HRC Business Council, as a board member of the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Dallas, and on the board/executive committee of the Dallas Summer Musicals. MarLett and his partner, Jim Vasilas, live in Dallas with their three-year-old son, James David.
