Lambda Legal Supports Federal Student Non-Discrimination Act Introduced in House of Representatives Today

Lambda Legal Welcomes Judith Pfenninger: New Chief Financial Officer

Lambda Legal Discrimination Case Resolved: Johnson City Police Department Updates Policies and Adds Training

(Johnson City, Tennessee, January 25, 2010) - Today Lambda Legal announces the resolution of a lawsuit against the Johnson City Police Department in Tennessee, on behalf of Kenneth Giles whose photo was made available to the media, contrary to the Department's usual practices.

Lambda Legal Sues U.S. Office of Personnel Management on Behalf of Lesbian Federal Court Employee Whose Wife Was Denied Insurance

(San Francisco, January 20, 2010) — Lambda Legal today filed suit against the federal government in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The lawsuit requests an order directing the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to obey prior rulings by Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Alex Kozinski awarding spousal health insurance benefits to Ninth Circuit judicial attorney Karen Golinski.

Mother Seeks Public Help to Locate Missing Child

Isabella was born in 2002, after Janet and Lisa, then a couple, decided to have a child together. Lisa was artificially inseminated to conceive the child. The current custody and visitation case began in 2003, when Lisa filed papers in Vermont asking the court to dissolve her and Janet's civil union and decide the custody of their child. The court granted temporary custody to Lisa and visitation to Janet. The court later determined that Janet is Isabella's legal parent.

Federal Judge Rules U.S. Agency Has Waived Right to Appeal Order Requiring Health Insurance for Wife of 9th Circuit Employee and Lambda Legal Client

(San Francisco, December 22, 2009) — Chief Judge of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Alex Kozinski today issued an order confirming that the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (“OPM”) has failed to appeal in a timely fashion from his prior order that a married lesbian court employee is entitled to spousal health insurance for her wife.
