(Chicago, IL, January 27, 2011)—Governor Quinn will sign civil unions into Illinois law on Monday, January 31, 2011, and spokespeople from Lambda Legal, the organization that provided significant technical and drafting support for the civil union bill, will be there and available for questions and interviews.
This law establishes many legal protections for same-sex couples and their families across the state. Lambda Legal's help desk has already responded to a flood of questions from community members about how the legislation affects them. An FAQ is available.
WHO: Camilla Taylor, Senior Staff Attorney, and Jim Bennett, Regional Director for the Midwest Regional Office of Lambda Legal, will be available for interviews after the signing.
