During the holiday season we often find ourselves spending time with family and friends. It’s a great chance to catch up with people we may not see very often throughout the year, but it can also mean spending time with people who are not shy about voicing disapproval of same-sex couples who marry or wish to marry.
Lambda Legal will oppose the move by the Coalition for the Protection of Marriage to have the Court weigh in on our lawsuit seeking the freedom to marry in Nevada.
Las Vegas Review-Journal political columnist Steve Sebelius says that U.S. District Judge Robert Jones' ruling on a lawsuit against Nevada's constitutional ban on gay marriage will be overturned is almost a certainty.
"This is not the end of this fight,” says Staff Attorney Tara Borelli. “This entire decision rests on the ridiculous premise that a 'meaningful percentage of heterosexual persons' will decide not to get married if same-sex couples can.”
The Las Vegas Review Journal has a lovely profile this morning of Mary Baranovich and Beverly Sevcik, lead plaintiffs in our federal lawsuit seeking marriage equality in Nevada. The couple met more than 40 years ago, raised three children and now have four grandchildren. From the article:
