IRS Community Property 101
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that it will apply community property laws to California, Washington, and Nevada registered domestic partners and California same-sex spouses to reflect "income-splitting"—in the same way that it applies those laws to different-sex married couples who file their federal income tax returns separately.
