On Sunday, Lambda Legal emeritus board member Suzanne Thomas passed away.

Kevin Jennings, Lambda Legal CEO, made the following statement:

"Lambda Legal is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Lambda Legal emeritus board member Suzanne Thomas, a dedicated Seattle LGBT advocate and longtime Lambda Legal donor.

“Suzanne was very committed to Lambda Legal. She served on Lambda Legal’s board from 1999 to 2001 and donated generously for many years. Suzanne also helped foster the organization’s relationship with K&L Gates law firm. A prominent figure in the Seattle LGBTQ community, Suzanne has received many honors for her work both inside the courtroom and beyond to protect the civil rights of LGBTQ people and everyone living with HIV.

“She had a great passion and love for Lambda Legal and its mission. In addition to being a brilliant lawyer, Suzanne was a big personality and was full of life and love for her community, including all of Seattle’s LGBTQ people and her Lambda Legal family. She’ll be profoundly missed.

“We send our deepest condolences to Suzanne’s loved ones.”

Jamie Pedersen, Lambda Legal National Leadership Council Chair and Seattle board member, made the following statement:

“Suzanne was a fierce and zealous advocate for her clients and for the entire LGBTQ community. During our time together on the Lambda Legal board, she brought her vast experience as an employment litigator, a great heart, and a sense of purpose and determination to every discussion.  I will miss my colleague and friend.”
