"Clock In for Equality is Lambda Legal's response to a very real problem our community has identified: protecting the rights of LGBT employees and employees with HIV in workplaces nationwide."
May 15, 2007

(New York, May 15, 2007) - Today Lambda Legal has coordinated hundreds of events and activities across the country as part of Clock In For Equality, Lambda Legal's national day of action for workplace fairness for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) workers, and workers living with HIV.

"Of the over 5,000 calls Lambda Legal's Help Desks received last year, discrimination against LGBT employees was far and way the most common issue raised," said Kevin Cathcart, Executive Director of Lambda Legal, "Clock In for Equality is Lambda Legal's response to a very real problem our community has identified: protecting the rights of LGBT employees and employees with HIV in workplaces nationwide."

Events large and small are happening in communities and workplaces across the country today as part of Lambda Legal's campaign to promote workplace equality for LGBT workers and workers with HIV. Local activities range from workers advocating for workplace policies, supporting a bill or local ordinance or holding educational forums on harassment-free workplaces in an effort to protect all LGBT workers and workers with HIV from workplace discrimination.

In addition to the hundreds of local events and activities, Lambda Legal has organized seven flagship events across the country in New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Seattle. Participants will be asked to sign a petition urging Congress to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) which was introduced in the House late last month sponsored by Reps. Christopher Shays (R-CT), Barney Frank (D-MA), Deborah Pryce (R-OH) and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI).

Over 200 organizations and people from all 50 states have signed up to Clock In for Equality.
