Lambda, Arkansas Activists To Announce Challenge to State Sodomy Ban

(NEW YORK, January 28, 1998) -- Representatives from several Arkansas organizations will join Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund in Little Rock, Arkansas, this Wednesday to announce a lawsuit on behalf of seven courageous Arkansas lesbians and gay men against that state's sodomy ban.

Several of the plaintiffs also will attend the news conference.

Coretta Scott King Will Address Lambda Celebration

Mutual of Omaha Sued for Denying Coverage to Those with HIV

(CHICAGO, January 21, 1998) -- Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund and the AIDS Legal Council of Chicago filed a lawsuit today against Mutual of Omaha, charging that the company violates federal and state law and endangers lives by severely limiting HIV-related health care coverage.

1997 Report Card on America and AIDS Discrimination

(NEW YORK, December 1, 1997) -- Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund recognized World AIDS Day Monday by issuing its annual report card on AIDS discrimination and policy in America, flunking many public officials and media figures, while top honorees include a veteran AIDS physician and Miss America.

"1997 has been a year of extremes," Lambda Executive Director Kevin Cathcart said from the organization's New York headquarters. "Despite incredible progress in treatment, this year has seen harsh and damaging reactions from both the government and the media," he said.

Lambda to High Court: Federal Law Applies to Same-Sex Sexual Harassment

(NEW YORK, November 25, 1997) -- Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund is urging the United States Supreme Court to recognize that Title VII, the federal law against sexual harassment at work, should be applied without regard to the sex or sexual orientation of the harasser or victim.
