The Indiana Benefit was conceived in 1999 by a group of visionary individuals seeking to advance the civil rights of LGBT people and persons living with HIV, in Indiana and across the nation. That vision and dedication to Lambda Legal’s mission and work in Indiana have yielded some of the most important and strategic legal victories our community has experienced in the past decade, including the freedom to marry. In 2017, it is an Indiana case that won federal court victory affirming that workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation violates federal civil rights law, and the Midwest remains a frontline in our fight against discrimination. Until all LGBT Hoosiers and people living with HIV are respected and equal under law, our work in Indiana continues!  The Indiana Benefit and its powerful alliance of community support and corporate leadership make this work possible.

Please join the 2017 Co-Chairs Amber Bollman, Doug Shoemaker, and Nabeela Virjee, along with our Host and Indiana Leadership Committees, to celebrate and advance our important work in this critical year. Our event has grown in size to an annual gathering of nearly 450 supporters from all corners of Indiana, raising critical funds to support our groundbreaking civil rights work.

This year, we are proud and excited to honor Krisztina Inskeep with the Indiana Benefit's 2017 Leadership Award, for her inspiring advocacy and leadership! We will salute Indiana teacher and Lambda Legal plaintiff Kim Hively, for her courage and case that secured protection from anti-LGBT employment discrimination under federal law for all Hoosiers; we will hear an inspiring update from Lambda Legal attorney Greg Nevins, on our march toward to the Supreme Court on this issue; and, we will celebrate the vision and dedication of Indiana supporters who help advance equality across the nation - with great drinks, food, dancing, and the voices of hundreds of our friends in Indy.
