Lambda Legal's Comments to HHS on Restrictions on Blood Donations by Men

Friday, June 4, 2010
| Department of Health and Human Services

Lambda Legal submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s Advisory Committee on Blood Safety and Availability for its consideration while reviewing the FDA’s current policy restricting blood donations by men who have had sex with men. Lambda Legal applauded the Committee for reviewing that policy and explained that the current restrictions are not scientifically justified, are discriminatory and promote misunderstanding about gay and bisexual men and the transmission of HIV.
