El Canto del Colibrí (The Hummingbird’s Song) is a documentary exploring the relationships between Latino immigrant fathers and their LGBTQ family members.

The film is directed and produced by Lambda Legal Community Educator Marco Castro-Bojorquez (pictured, left, with producer and director of photography Jose Alfaro).

It shows the stories of Latino fathers dealing with issues of immigration, faith, marriage equality, machismo, culture, and the process of their LGBTQ children coming out. It also addresses political issues about LGBTQ families, social oppression, shared responsibility and acceptance of LGBTQ people as members of Latino families.

El Canto del Colibrí was inspired by requests from audiences of Castro-Bojorquez's previous documentary, Tres Gotas de Agua (Three Drops of Water), which premiered at Frameline 35 San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival.

Lambda Legal is helping to sponsor the film, along with BAYCAT Productions and the Latino family acceptance organizations Somos Familia and Familia: Trans Queer Liberation Movement.
