We are heartbroken and outraged that again – twice in two days – police have shot and killed Black men. We don’t know all the facts in either case, but driving with a broken tail light or selling CDs in front of a store are not punishable by death.
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton today announced that Minnesota Appeals Court Judge Margaret Chutich would be appointed to the state’s supreme court. With this appointment, Chutich became the state’s first openly gay justice.

Today, the Supreme Court of Minnesota upheld the decision of an intermediate appellate court overturning the conviction of Daniel James Rick, who is HIV positive, for the alleged criminal transmission of a communicable disease.
The Minnesota Senate voted 37-30 today to grant same-sex couples the freedom to marry.
The measure now goes to Gov. Mark Dayton, who said he will sign it into law tomorrow.
