Another supporter of mean-spirited, anti-LGBT policies is about to enter the White House — and she’s going to be in charge of our kids’ educations.

Betsy DeVos and her family have funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars into opposing marriage equality and funding harmful conversion therapy, and now she’s just one vote away from Senate confirmation tomorrow as Trump’s Secretary of Education.

This is the latest in a series of moves towards the LGBT community that show more than just bad, deadly judgment: They’re also spitefully cruel and mean. The good news is that we might be able to stop the White House from putting a bully in charge of our education system, and we only need one more vote.

You have the power to make sure she loses that vote. Three senators – Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, and Dan Sullivan of Alaska – are on the fence about standing up to hate and intolerance in our schools.

These Senators need to know that their constituents want them to vote NO, so use the links below to find your Facebook friends in those states, and then send them the message below asking them to call their senators and tell that schools exist to care for and protect our children, not to bully and abuse them.

We’re sharing the below sample message to share with your friends so they can make their voice heard. We can’t promise we’re going to stop this confirmation, but after receiving tens of thousands of calls, Republican Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski have already decided to break from the hateful party line and vote against DeVos. We only need one more vote and recent experience has proven that being loud works.

Hey, wanted to let you know that your Senator, [Pat Toomey/Lamar Alexander/Dan Sullivan], is on the fence about approving Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary. She has a history of opposing the LGBT community, including putting hundreds of thousands of dollars into opposing marriage equality and funding anti-LGBT conversion therapy.

After receiving tens of thousands of phone calls, Republican Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski have already broken from the party line to vote against DeVos. We only need one more vote.

If you could spend some time calling your Senator tonight, we may be able to stop her.
