Yesterday’s announcement by President Obama that he supports same-sex couples’ freedom to marry was a historic moment. Below are some reactions from Lambda Legal staff - check them out then add your own comments:

“It is historic what the President said - this is the first time a sitting American president has taken a position in favor of marriage equality. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have on our side than the President of the United States.”
-Executive Director Kevin Cathcart

“I’ve been in this fight for a long time, and there are moments that just renew your energy and hope. President Obama’s statement in support of marriage equality was one of those moments.”
-Director of Education and Public Affairs Leslie Gabel-Brett

“The real impact is an expression of leadership that will give a great psychological lift to gay and lesbian couples and their children, and a message to the country that discrimination is not appropriate."
-National Marriage Project Director Camilla Taylor
