Get to know Bianca!

-What brought you to Lambda Legal?

Lambda Legal's proven track record in using impact litigation to protect the rights of LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV. In this unpredictable day and age I wanted to work for an organization that is actively fighting against the incessant efforts to chip away at our equal rights.

-What about Lambda Legal's mission most excites you?
It's hard to choose, especially since I still have more to learn about the mission! I am very moved by the Youth in Out-of-Home Care project, and feel proud to be part of an organization that fights to protect the safety and wellbeing of trans and gender-nonconforming minors in the foster system. Every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment that sets them on the path to success, and my heart breaks for the vulnerable kids who have been let down by their families and the state time and time again.
-How have you seen the rights for LGBTQ+ folks advance in your lifetime? What has impacted you the most?
The biggest advancement I've seen during my lifetime is achieving marriage equality (although as we all know that wasn't the end of our fight.) My closest friends and I come from a religious Jewish community in Indiana, and what's impacted me most is seeing my queer childhood friends build the marriages, families, and full rich lives that we were raised to believe were sinful.
-What's one book you think everyone should read?
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss.
-What are you currently binging?
The Shrink Next Door, the new season of Dexter, and Shark Tank.
