SUMMARY

Lambda Legal is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and team-oriented Web Manager to maintain existing web content and create new applications that add value to its website.  Reporting to the Director of Digital, the Web Manager will maintain the front-end and back-end architecture of the Lambda Legal’s website. The Web Manager will strategize with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure projects and solutions are aligned with the organization’s objectives.

Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work. Since 1973, Lambda Legal has used impact litigation and other advocacy tools to decriminalize same-sex relationships; challenge discrimination against LGBTQ people and people living with HIV in the workplace, in the home, in schools, in health care, and in the military; and protect LGBTQ families, including by winning and defending marriage equality. Clients are not charged for legal representation or advocacy and Lambda Legal receives no government funding. Headquartered in New York City, Lambda Legal has regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Washington, D.C.

In light of this reality, we prioritize awareness and proactive commitment to counteracting these biases and their compounding effects. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the daily management, monitoring, and maintenance of Lambda Legal’s website.

• Provide ongoing design and maintenance support, optimizing the website for search engine, digital and social media traffic, and user experience (UI). Ensure website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans. Conduct content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.

• Implement site governance protocols as well as web content management processes and procedures. This includes writing scope documents, managing source code, and developing technical support standards and procedures.

• Respond to and troubleshoot all website issues.

• Ensure full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations especially with California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by developing policies, standards, practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing, and to safeguard information resources.

• Participate in all phases of projects including development, design, testing and production. This requires a strong understanding and use of web programming languages (such as HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, and PHP) and content management systems (such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Drupal, and Sanity).

• Write functional specifications for external developers.

• Effectively lead and manage multiple projects to completion and cohesively communicate status updates to stakeholders.

• Build global authoring platforms, tools, and documentation to deliver local and global experiences. Streamline publishing and content creation through automation.

• Monitor web market trends and technology developments to ensure company sites stay current in functionality and performance. Research, present, test, and implement new technology and techniques.

• Continuously seek and vet new technologies, vendors, and properties for delivering digital content at cost-effective price points.

• Support other stakeholders within the organization with project or task deliverables related to digital content needs and requests. Coordinate efforts with database administrators, network infrastructure personnel, Helpdesk, and outside vendors.

• Directly collaborate with the Marketing team to maximize web/digital content delivery, engagement, outcomes, and end-user experiences.

• Work with Purchasing and IT to coordinate the ordering, receiving, and payment activities related to the acquisition of new technology. Participate in the development and monitoring of a departmental budget to support present and future projects.

• Prioritize opportunities for engagement based on business case and data, and measure progress using KPIs. Develop key performance metrics to improve websites’ activity, functionality, and user experience. Report and analyze user trends and recommend changes to website properties through A/B testing and content targeting to increase traffic and conversion metrics.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills & Competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent working experience.

• 5+ years of technical experience working with web applications, web design, and enterprise applications.

• Knowledge of responsive web design, web development, graphic design, relational databases, application programming languages, web and mobile technologies, and a variety of software.

• Drupal experience required.

• Outstanding communication and technical skills. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of current web development languages (including HTML5, CSS3, PHP/MySQL, Java, Javascript).

• Ability to manage multiple large complex projects and teams; effectively negotiate/influence others; communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing; analyze and problem solve a variety of issues; carry out strategic planning. Create and deliver effective presentations to various constituents.

• Experienced in Agile software development processes and version control systems.

• Experience with UX strategy, writing, or editorial work. Have an understanding of information architecture, narrative for customer journeys, and UX content frameworks.

• Experienced in wireframing, mapping out user flows, and technical documentation.

• Experience with writing and editing for the web and working with markup languages and front-end web technology.

• Experience driving content initiatives that influence product strategy/roadmap and creating new value for customers or solving business/operation problems.

• Willingness to take the initiative and work independently, but also function as part of a dynamic team.

• Working at Lambda Legal requires a demonstrated awareness of and commitment to the concerns of the breadth of the communities that Lambda Legal serves. Prior work on behalf of the LGBT community and/or people living with HIV is highly desirable, and some experience working with historically marginalized communities (in a professional or volunteer capacity) is also desirable.  Any successful candidate will welcome the opportunity to work in a gender-diverse and racially-diverse environment.

TRAVEL

Travel will be minimal.

COVID STATEMENT

The health and well-being of our employees and their loved ones are of the utmost importance to us.  During the Pandemic, we have chosen to close our offices.  Our employees are all working from home, and only visit the office voluntarily, only if absolutely necessary.   We follow CDC and Department of Health guidelines to ensure the safety of employees who occasionally need to work from the office.   We have an employee task force that is continually evaluating and assessing when we can re-open.  At this time, we do not foresee re-opening our office in the next several months.

COMPENSATION

Salary is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement(CBA).  The annual salary range starts at $52,569 but depends on location worked in as cost of living adjustments are included in the CBA.  Competitive benefits package is provided, including medical, dental, life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, employer contributions and match to 403(b)-retirement account, and substantial vacation.
