Lambda Legal seeks a full-time Website Manager in its Communication Department.

Lambda Legal is a national, nonprofit organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (“LGBT”) people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in New York City, Lambda Legal has regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Washington DC.


The Website Manager is responsible for ensuring the on-going success of Lambda Legal’s Drupal website, and other related online assets. The role encompasses website management, coding, UX design, search engine optimization, conversion rate optimization, and overall website strategy. The person in this position manages day-to-day, mid-, and long-term website projects while designing and delivering solutions, and works with cross-functional team members and agency partners. The website manager also monitors and analyzes data to optimize digital communications, and develop new capabilities and features.

The Website Manager's job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Under the direction of the digital director, manage web projects from planning to execution

• Work with internal stakeholders to prioritize web projects, set expectations, and understand requirements

• Analyze website metrics and key performance indicators to test and refine web products and features continually, and provide project status updates weekly

• Maintain quality standards for all content published on the Lambda Legal website and other related assets

• Manage website users, and assist staff with content editing and entry

• Develop and execute usability testing plans

• Ensure the use of best practices and apply lessons learned from previous projects

• Manage freelancers and agency partners, as assigned

• Design wireframes, mockups, and user interface elements

• Train team members on the use of the Drupal content management system (CMS) and Convio/Luminate customer relationship management system (CRM)

• Work with email strategist to develop audience segments for the email program

• Troubleshoot website bugs on both Drupal and Luminate Online systems

• Manage DNS for digital platforms

• Ensure ongoing compliance with industry web standards, including browser compatibility and ADA-recommended accessibility

• Code front end for custom landing pages, organizational microsites, and external-facing reports

• Identify areas on site to increase audience engagement and analyze data


• Extensive web expertise, including strong familiarity with the front end and at least some familiarity with the back end, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Drupal

• Non-profit experience, including execution of online advocacy campaigns

• Project management and excellent communication skills, including the ability to write project plans and reports

• Knowledge of modern web analytics systems (e.g., Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager)

• Understanding of SEO/SEM best practices

• Knowledge of user experience and site flow principles

• Strong problem solving and ability to work independently and collaboratively

• Working knowledge of omnichannel digital technologies

• Experience with A/B testing and user testing tools and methodologies

• Knowledge of LGBTQ civil rights issues

• Familiarity with Blackbaud, Pantheon, CloudFlare, immersive design, the command line, CSS pre-processors, and Crazy Egg a plus

• Familiarity and comfort with rapid response and/or fast-paced environments

• 5+ years’ experience
