Thank you to all of you who filled out our survey. More than 3000 individuals and nearly 40 organizations filled out the survey.  We greatly appreciate your willingness to share your experiences about the discrimination LGBT people and people living with HIV experience when dealing with police, school security, courts and the prison system.

Our survey is now closed and we are beginning to compile the data which will be looking at the following issues:

  • police harassment, profiling, and mistreatment;
  • police failure to protect and serve;
  • misconduct in prisons, parole systems and courts; and
  • school discipline and other school-to-prison pipeline Issues.

In the coming weeks and months we will post more information about Lambda Legal’s government misconduct work. We will begin releasing survey findings in early 2013.

Protected and Served? Interactions with Police, Courts, Prisons and School Security

Often, when LGBT people and people living HIV interact with police, school security, courts and the prison system we don’t feel protected and served. Perhaps you’ve experienced discrimination firsthand, or you witnessed a friend or family member being mistreated. Maybe you even have a positive experience to tell. Lambda Legal wants to hear your story. It will be used to strengthen our ongoing and developing work on these issues and may be posted on this website.

Become a Partner Organization

Lambda Legal Fighting Government Misconduct

Lambda Legal has a proud history of standing up to government misconduct. We’ve challenged criminal laws that were directed at or unfairly applied against members of our community. And, we’ve brought lawsuits when legal authorities violate the rights of LGBT people and people living with HIV.
