Hosting a Lambda Legal House Party!

A Lambda Legal House Party is a fantastic way to have a wonderful time for a great cause. Host the type of party that's right for you...whether it's evening cocktails, a weekend brunch, a formal dinner, a cookout, a barbecue or an afternoon with good friends. The party's goal is simple — to introduce people to Lambda Legal in a fun and informal way. Many people who would like to be Lambda Legal members simply have never been asked. You can make a tremendous contribution to our fight for full equality simply by inviting your friends and family to become members of Lambda Legal.

How To Host a House Party in 12 Easy Steps

Things to do before the party:

  1. Choose a date, time, and location for your party.
  2. Fill out the order form. We will send you all the materials that you request.
  3. Send out the invitations — by mail or email. Be sure to include:
    • Date, time, location, your name and phone number and/or email.
    • A note explaining that the party will be a fundraiser for Lambda Legal.
    • A request for RSVPs.
    • Lambda Legal's website — www.lambdalegal.org.
  4. Plan your party:
    • Decide how long the party will be, what you will serve, and if/when you will show the Lambda Legal video.
    • Decide what you'll say. To make this easy for you, we'll send you some talking points.
    • If you want to focus on a particular program area, let us know and we will send you in-depth information.

During the party:

  1. Ask each guest to sign in.
  2. Encourage your guests to mix and mingle and have fun.
  3. Once you feel everyone's arrived, begin your remarks and then screen the Lambda Legal video.
  4. Pass out pledge cards.
  5. Thank everyone for coming.
  6. And don't forget to have fun yourself!

After the party:

  1. Mail in your guests' contributions using the Lambda Legal Contribution Form that we will have sent to you.
  2. Let us know how it went! We are always curious to hear about your experience and to learn from you.
