Who to talk to
Get the word out by talking about fair courts with your friends. Many people don’t know about the issues facing the courts today or how different life would be without fair courts. Use this attentive audience to talk about the current attacks on the judiciary and what can be done to counter them.
What to say
There are a number of ways to get the conversation started and keep it going. Let people know that even though a decision may not be favorable, it does not mean that the court should be attacked for the individual decision. Courts sometimes get it wrong, like when they have denied some of the civil rights we have today, but that is no excuse to attacke the important checks and balances system. If you’re in an area with strong popular opposition to an issue involving LGBT rights, let you friends know that judicial decisions should not be based upon popularity rather, they should be unbiased analyses of the law and the facts before the court.
