  • 2004 The state’s Constitution is amended to say, “Marriage consists only of the legal union between a man and a woman. No other domestic union, however denominated, may be recognized as a marriage or given the same or substantially equivalent legal effect.” See N.D. Constitution, Article XI § 28.
  • 1997 North Dakota prohibits marriage between same-sex couples by statute. See N.D. Century Code §§ 14.03.01 and 14.03.08.
