(Amicus) Ohio v. Carswell
This brief argues that the plain language of Ohio's anti-gay constitutional amendment does not reach the domestic violence law because the anti-gay amendment prohibits only the creation of a "legal status" (which has a specific and limited meaning under Ohio law) that intends to approximate marriage. The domestic violence law neither creates a legal status nor intends to approximate marriage.
