(Chicago, April 29, 2014) – Lambda Legal today announced Kyle Palazzolo as a new Staff and HIV Project Attorney at the Midwest Regional Office in Chicago. The former Jenner & Block attorney has extensive transgender rights litigation experience and has co-authored appellate briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court; Sixth, Seventh, Ninth, and Eleventh Federal Circuits.

“Kyle has a passionate commitment to moving our community forward and his extensive experience and winning track record make him a perfect addition to our talented team in the Midwest,” said Jon W. Davidson, Legal Director and Eden/Rushing Chair, Lambda Legal. “The addition of another attorney in Chicago demonstrates Lambda Legal’s active commitment to expanding our reach in the Midwest states as well as to continuing to build our work on behalf of people with HIV nationwide.”

While at Jenner & Block, Palazzolo was active in cases involving transgender rights, including serving as co-counsel achieving a significant victory defeating an Illinois policy prohibiting changes to birth certificates for transgender individuals and co-authoring an amicus brief regarding medical treatment for incarcerated transgender individuals. Kyle’s work has been recognized with the Illinois State Bar Association, Community Leadership Award and the Albert E. Jenner, Jr. Pro Bono Award.  Kyle was also named a “Rising Star” by Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine from 2012-2014.

“I am extraordinarily proud to continue fighting for justice at Lambda Legal, an organization that successfully fights for equality in the Midwest and across the country,” said Palazzolo.  “The LGBT community and people living with HIV have made significant strides in the last few years, and this progress will only continue in the years to come.”
