Settlement Reached in Case of Lambda Legal Lesbian Client Denied Infertility Treatment by Christian Fundamentalist Doctors

(San Diego, September 29, 2009)--An Oceanside lesbian whose doctors denied her infertility treatment based on her sexual orientation has reached a settlement with her former physicians in her historic lawsuit against them.

Lambda Legal Joins Fair Wisconsin in Fight to Save Legal Protections for Same-Sex Couples and Their Families

(Madison, Wisconsin September 22, 2009) — In court papers that will be filed today, Lambda Legal is seeking to intervene on behalf of Fair Wisconsin and its members in a lawsuit brought by an antigay group attempting to strip away newly enacted domestic partnership protections for same-sex couples and their families.

Lambda Legal Client to Testify at ENDA Hearing Wednesday

(Washington, D.C., September 21, 2009) — At a hearing for the Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA) before a U.S. House of Representatives committee, Lambda Legal client Vandy Beth Glenn will provide testimony about why the federal government must act to end workplace discrimination among the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Lambda Legal represents Glenn in a case against Georgia legislative officials after they fired her because she is transgender.

Lambda Legal Condemns Stripping of Domestic Partner Benefits by Arizona Lawmakers

(Phoenix, September 8, 2009) — Lambda Legal is profoundly concerned and disturbed by a move by Arizona lawmakers on Friday to strip health benefits from the domestic partners of state employees.


State legislators for months had taken aim at the equal benefits plan approved last year by former Governor Janet Napolitano, now Department of Homeland Security Secretary. On Friday, current Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed a budget bill with the provision revoking the health insurance coverage for domestic partners.

Settlement Reached in Lambda Legal's Federal Case Against the Mayor and City of Birmingham

(Birmingham, AL, September 2, 2009) — Yesterday afternoon, a settlement agreement was reached in Lambda Legal's federal lawsuit on behalf of Central Alabama Pride (CAP) against the City of Birmingham and its Mayor, Larry Langford, who interfered with their right to free speech last summer.

Federal Court Rejects Howard K. Stern's Gay Defamation Claim

(New York, August 12, 2009) — The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York today rejected Howard K. Stern’s claim that being called gay is defamatory per se and ruled that he is not entitled to collect damages on this basis. Lambda Legal argued this point in a friend-of-the-court brief filed in March 2009.

Judge Denies Motion to Dismiss in Lambda Legal's Case of Evicted HIV-Positive Retired Minister

(Little Rock, Ark., August 10, 2009) — A U.S. District Court judge today denied a motion by Fox Ridge, a North Little Rock assisted living facility, to dismiss a lawsuit brought by Lambda Legal on behalf of Robert Franke, a retired minister with HIV.


The ruling by Judge Garnett Thomas Eisele of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas clears the way for the case to proceed.
