Jennifer C. Pizer, National Marriage Project Director for Lambda Legal, issued the following statement in reaction to today's decision from U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker in Perry v. Schwarzenegger

(New York, July 29, 2008) — The Massachusetts Legislature has repealed the 1913 anti-marriage law that barred out-of-state same-sex couples from marrying there, and Governor Patrick has already announced he will sign the bill. (New York, April 15, 2011)—Yesterday, the Delaware House of Representatives voted 26-15 to approve a civil unions bill that will provide same-sex couples who enter into such civil unions the same rights, protections and obligations now granted in Delaware to married couples. The Senate had approved the measure earlier, and the Governor has announced he will sign the bill into law.

(Phoenix, Arizona, June 28, 2010) — Lambda Legal today presented oral arguments in U.S. District Court in Phoenix to block a law stripping domestic partner benefits from gay and lesbian state employees.

(New York, May 7, 2013) — Today, the Delaware Senate voted to grant the freedom to marry to same-sex couples in Delaware. With Governor Jack Markell set to sign the bill, Delaware will join the rapidly growing list of jurisdictions in the United States where the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage has ended.
