New Jersey Premiere of Family Fundamentals Documentary Set
(NEW YORK, June 6, 2002) - The New Jersey premiere of a documentary exploring the lives of families in which the parents are actively anti-gay in spite of having gay children themselves will also serve as a benefit for Lambda Legal, Lambda said Wednesday.
Award-winning filmmaker Arthur Dong, armed with a digital camera, takes viewers into the private - and sometimes very public - lives of three conservative Christian families in Family Fundamentals. Many scenes were shot in New Jersey and feature New Jersey residents. Dong will be joined by cast member and Edgewater resident Susan Jester, her son and cast member David Jester, and New Jersey family activists Jon and Michael Galluccio at a discussion and dessert reception following the showing.
Family Fundamentals was nominated for a Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Previous films by Arthur Dong have earned an Academy Award nomination as well as multiple honors at Sundance, the Peabody Awards, the GLAAD Media Awards, and international festivals in San Francisco, Seattle, and Berlin.
All proceeds of the film premiere will help support Lambda Legal. Seating is limited and tickets are $45.00. To make a reservation contact Mark Zumwalt at 212-809-8585, extension 268.
Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund is the nation’s oldest and largest legal organization dedicated to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgendered people, and people with HIV or AIDS.
