Lambda Legal Condemns Passage of Anti-LGBT North Carolina Bill HB 2

“We are disappointed that North Carolina’s lawmakers passed HB 2 this evening. HB 2 unfairly sets its sight on transgender students, using fear to keep these children from being able to use the restrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity and having safe and affirming environments to learn. But this is about more than bathrooms, this is about access to employment, education, and to just about everything else in life. If people who are transgender can be barred from bathrooms how on earth can they move around in the world and participate freely and productively at work, school and the life of the community? We urge Governor McCrory to veto this dangerous and damaging bill.”
