Marriage, Relationships and Family Protections
From winning the freedom to marry to defending domestic partnership benefits and securing parent-child relationships, Lambda Legal protects same-sex couples and their families through a broad range of litigation, education and advocacy strategies. Our families remain at risk for discrimination by employers, health care professionals, school officials, and the government. Lambda Legal has a National Marriage Project and works to protect the rights of parents and children.
Marriage at the Supreme Court
For the first time in history, the U.S. Supreme Court is hearing two gay rights cases in one term. One case challenges the so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which bars the federal government from recognizing the marriages of same-sex couples.
