On Monday, May 5th, more than 800 Lambda Legal supporters gathered from around the nation to celebrate a stunning year for equality at the 2014 Liberty Awards National Dinner. For the first time since 2007, we raised $1 million in support of Lambda Legal's national strategy toward full equality -- but we haven't reached our ambitious goal yet.

Help us reach our target of $1.1 million by making a gift today.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR LIBERTY AWARD RECIPIENTS & OUR PHENOMENAL VOLUNTEER COMMITEE:
EVENT CO-CHAIRS: Bill Candelaria & Natasha Haase
CORPORATE COMMITTEE CHAIR: Dan Cochran
TABLE CAPTAIN CO-CHAIRS: Lisa Linsky & Todd Sears

INSPIRED.  Life is a lot like flying for Liberty Award Recipient and Lambda Legal plaintiff, Robina Asti – sometimes precarious but a grand, breathtaking adventure. At a vibrant 93-years young, she shared her belief that her victory over the Social Security Administration is less of personal achievement and more for future generations to come. Her motto: Enjoy your life and have fun living.

STANDING. Over 27 years ago, Liberty Award Recipient and National Sponsor Wells Fargo took a stand for its LGBT brothers and sisters by introducing an inclusive employee policy. Over the years Wells Fargo has intentionally fostered a corporate culture that not only accepts individual differences, but celebrates them.

DEFENDING. Lambda Legal continues to defend LGBT New Yorkers who face discrimination despite living in a state with marriage equality on the books. These instances – ranging from child custody battles to landlord disputes and out-of-state adoption rights - prove that while the rights have been won, they still need to be both protected and enforced.

FIGHTING. Executive Director Kevin Cathcart closed out the evening and reminded us of the watershed year that the movement has enjoyed - particularly for marriage equality - but that our fight is far from over. While we've watched the victories accumulate across the county, there is a still a disturbing reality that we face in enforcing these laws even for the most progressive of states. And as the movement builds inland and to the South, it shouldn't surprise you that the work becomes that much harder.

Lambda Legal is inspired by our honorees, and like them, we share a passion for a better world. We won't give in and we won't give up.

With your help, we can set a new record. Your gift today will count toward our goal of raising $1.1 million so Lambda Legal can continue to defend the rights of clients like Robina and fight for equality for the LGBT community in every state across the country.

SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR EVENT SPONSORS
