Marco Castro-Bojorquez is the community educator located in the Western Regional Office of Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and people with HIV.

Marco is responsible for the coordination and implementation of Lambda Legal’s various educational and advocacy efforts in eleven states of the western region that actively engages the LGBT community and its allies in an ongoing fight for equality and justice.  Through community forums, educational programs and by building relationships with other organizations, we seek to build a greater understanding of the issues Lambda Legal addresses through impact litigation. Lambda Legal informs people about LGBT issues gives them the tools to take individual and collective action to gain full equality of LGBT people and people with HIV in our society.

Prior to joining Lambda Legal, Marco has been directly involved in the development, implementation, management and evaluation of youth and young adult programs.   At Community Bridges Beacon (CBB), a San Francisco’s Mission District based community center; the Gay-Straight Alliance Network (GSA Network), a youth-driven, statewide social justice organization; and the Bayview Hunters Point Center for Arts and Technology (BAYCAT), a non-profit community media producer that empowers and employs underserved youth and their families in the digital media arts.   He has also produced and directed several short films and documentaries while working with community cinema programs, including the award winning documentary “Tres Gotas de Agua,” a short film that features three Latina immigrant mothers who explore the multigenerational impact of their children’s coming out process. 

Marco is a youth advocate, educator, filmmaker, and community organizer who strives to create powerful solidarity among people.  Born and raised on the Mexican Pacific coast, Marco left his country for political reasons and has lived in California for the past 20 years.  Marco likes people who have integrity and believe that this world belongs to everyone and not only a sector of the society.  He lives in Santa Monica with his partner, and Lola and Kafka, the cats!
