Your Community

Find Your State

Know the laws in your state that protect LBGT people and people living with HIV.

No Lambda Legal office or program near you? Make the case for equality right in your own community. There are plenty of opportunities to educate and engage friends, loved ones and colleagues about the need for equality for LGBT people and those living with HIV.

One of the most important things you can all do is to talk to everyone you know about why you feel equality is important. Download our Volunteer for Equality Toolkit, which includes talking points, fact sheets and other resources to support your community outreach efforts.

If you have a question or could use something that’s not already included, please contact us at and we’ll do our best to get back to you quickly.

Here are some tips for how you can have these conversations. Be creative and, most important, be honest.

Plan an Educational Event

  • Talk about Equality
  • Take Political Action
  • Host a House Party or Screen a Film

You also make a difference when you:

  • Join our online community and encourage others to do the same
  • Join us online at Facebook, MySpace, Flickr or Twitter
  • Get involved with one of our action campaigns
  • Download toolkits and other publications

Don’t forget to tell us about your volunteer activity, and upload your event photos and videos to our pages on Facebook, MySpace and Flickr.
