Frances J. Goldstein is the Deputy Director of Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and people with HIV.
Goldstein supervises Lambda Legal's Administration and Finance department, as well as the administrative work of all of Lambda Legal's regional offices. She is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the New York headquarters and assists the Executive Director in overall management of the organization. Lambda Legal has a Western Regional Office in Los Angeles, a Midwest Regional Office in Chicago, a Southern Regional Office in Atlanta and a South Central Office in Dallas.
Goldstein brings twenty years of business and not-for-profit management experience to Lambda Legal. Previously, she was employed by AFS Intercultural Programs, and before that spent ten years in the food and beverage industry at Soho Natural Soda, New Amsterdam Beer, and Frookies Cookies. Goldstein also worked for five years in commercial lending at Bankers Trust Company. She holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. from the University of Rochester.
Before becoming deputy director, she spent four years as treasurer of Lambda Legal's Board of Directors. Prior to that she served as treasurer of the Board of the Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center in New York for seven years. She was also a member of the collective that published New York City's only feminist newspaper in the early 1980s, Womanews.
