(Washington, DC, March 1, 2013) -- Lambda Legal and Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) today submitted a friend-of-the-court brief in U.S. v. Windsor urging the U.S. Supreme Court to affirm the decision by the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals declaring Section 3 of the federal so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional.

Anne Arundel School Employee Gets Benefits for Same-Sex Spouse Following Lambda Legal Discrimination Complaint 11/16/2011

(Anne Arundel County, MD November 16, 2011)—Lambda Legal announced today that Stacy Pipkin, an administrator with Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS), will receive employment benefits for her same-sex spouse, following a Lambda Legal complaint on her behalf with the Maryland Commission on Human Relations and policy change from AACPS.

Baltimore County Grants Spousal Benefits to Employees with Same-Sex Spouses After Lambda Legal Arbitration Victory 12/15/2011

Baltimore County announced that, beginning January, it will extend spousal benefits to all county employees who are married to a same-sex spouse. This comes on the heels of an arbitrator’s ruling in favor of Lambda Legal clients Margaret Selby and Juanika Ballard, Baltimore County police officers who had been denied benefits for their same-sex spouses.

Court of Appeals Allows All Same-Sex Couples in Virginia To Join Marriage Case 03/10/2014

(Richmond, March 10, 2014) - Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit granted the motion to intervene in Bostic v. Rainey that had been filed by Lambda Legal, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia on behalf of a class of all Virginia's same-sex couples. The class is simultaneously challenging the state's marriage ban in its own case, Harris v. Rainey.
