New Jersey Superior Court Rules to Allow Lambda Legal to Proceed with Marriage Equality Case 11/04/2011

Anne Arundel School Employee Gets Benefits for Same-Sex Spouse Following Lambda Legal Discrimination Complaint 11/16/2011

Prop 8 Case Back in Federal Court After California Supreme Court Rules that State Law Grants Proponents Right to Appeal 11/17/2011

Ninth Circuit Hears Oral Arguments in Motion to Vacate Ruling That Prop 8 Is Unconstitutional 12/08/2011

(San Francisco, December 8, 2011) -- The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals today heard oral arguments in the effort by the proponents of Proposition 8 to vacate the historic August 2010 ruling by now-retired U.S. District Court Chief Judge Vaughn Walker finding the discriminatory 2008 proposition unconstitutional.

Baltimore County Grants Spousal Benefits to Employees with Same-Sex Spouses After Lambda Legal Arbitration Victory 12/15/2011

Baltimore County announced that, beginning January, it will extend spousal benefits to all county employees who are married to a same-sex spouse. This comes on the heels of an arbitrator’s ruling in favor of Lambda Legal clients Margaret Selby and Juanika Ballard, Baltimore County police officers who had been denied benefits for their same-sex spouses.

U.S. District Court Hears Oral Argument in Case Challenging Constitutionality of DOMA 12/16/2011

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California heard oral arguments today in the case brought by Lambda Legal and Morrison & Foerster challenging the constitutionality of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) on behalf of Karen Golinski, a federal court employee denied spousal health coverage for her wife.

Iowa Court Orders State to Provide Accurate Birth Certificate to Child Born to Two Mothers: Lambda Legal Celebrates Victory 01/04/2012

Today, the Iowa District Court for Polk County ordered the state's Department of Public Health to issue a birth certificate for two year-old Mackenzie Gartner, a child born to a married same-sex couple in 2009, listing both spouses as Mackenzie's parents in reliance on their marriage and the spousal presumption of parentage it creates.
