Thanks to all of our supporters and advocates for making this year's Clock In: Pledge-a-thon for Workplace Equality a big success!
With participation in all 50 states and Washington, DC, we surpassed our goal of 5,000 pledges, raising greater awareness about the discrimination LGBT people and those with HIV can face at work, and most importantly, identifying thousands of new activists to help fight that discrimination. The response to Lambda Legal's 2nd national day of action for workplace equality, which took place on May 15, was a true testament to the fact that nearly 90 percent of people in the United States believe workplace discrimination is wrong.
But the battle isn't over yet.
In 2007, nearly 1,000 individuals called Lambda Legal's Help Desk with questions and concerns about workplace fairness issues generating more calls than any other issue.
Less than half of all states specifically ban workplace discrimination in the private sector based on sexual orientation and even fewer states expressly ban discrimination based on gender identity.
Over the next year, Lambda Legal will periodically send pledge-signers updates and suggestions for concrete ways they can help combat workplace discrimination where they live and work. If you need assistance in any way or would like to join the fight for workplace equality, sign the pledge today.
Together we will crush workplace discrimination!

"I was shocked when I received the call from human resources taking away the job they’d offered me — it felt as if they’d said to me ‘you’re a monster; we don’t want you here.'” |

Izza Lopez a transgender woman was offered a job at a medical company in Houston. After she and her new employer agreed on a start date, Izza gave notice at her then-current job, but before her start date, the new employer rescinded the job offer because of her “misrepresentation” of herself as a woman. | |
