Overruled! On Campus

Make History at Your School

In Lambda Legal's historic victory, Lawrence v. Texas, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down all remaining state sodomy laws, the mere existence of which had often been used to justify wholesale discrimination against LGBT people. Lambda Legal has produced a 20-minute documentary commemorating the fifth anniversary of this civil rights milestone. Now you can host your own screening of “Overruled!” on campus. Our step-by-step guide includes publicity materials and helpful hints on how to get noticed, raise money for your event and more!

History Was Made

Lawrence v. Texas is widely considered the most significant LGBT legal rights breakthrough of our time. No longer can gay men and lesbians be branded as criminals because they love others of the same sex. Moreover, laws that deny gay people liberty or equal protection can no longer be justified on moral grounds alone. The decision has since been cited in both the Massachusetts and California marriage victories, along with many other LGBT and privacy rights cases.
