Today, in recognition of World AIDS Day 2015, Lambda Legal announced it has launched a Spanish-language version of its latest addition to the Lambda Legal “Know Your Rights” mobile-friendly information hub: Know Your Rights: HIV.
For years, Lambda Legal has been working on behalf of LGBT people and people living with HIV in Puerto Rico—from leading the fight on marriage equality to promoting judicial diversity and denouncing LGBT-biased crimes.
Combating police violence and misconduct directed at the LGBTQ and HIV-affected communities is not new to Lambda Legal. We have not been afraid to sue police departments and correctional facilities for harassing members of our community. With this history, we proudly stand with and fight for Black lives in the face of injustice.
We are outraged at the murder of Laquan McDonald and the time it has taken for Chicago officials to release the video and file charges. We extend our deepest sympathy to Laquan McDonald’s family, and to every family affected by unnecessary and unjustified police violence. We hope that justice is done.
In spite of all our recent victories, hardworking people continue to experience pervasive discrimination in the workplace – and even lose their jobs – because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or HIV status.
