They’re back – or, the sad truth is, the Boy Scouts never changed their discriminatory policies against LGBT people.
Lambda Legal fought the Boy Scouts’ discriminatory practices all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Although our landmark case BSA v. Dale did not succeed in changing the Scouts’ policies, the publicity it generated helped advance the national discussion about the needs of gay youth and the fitness of gay adults to participate in the iconic institution.
GLAAD and Change.org have launched a petition in support of Ohio mom Jennifer Tyrrell, who was removed from her volunteer post as leader of her son’s Boy Scouts troop just because she’s lesbian. More than 170,000 people have signed it so far. Add your signature here.
