In advance of Lambda Legal’s annual Summer Sendoff - a garden party for LGBT and allied young professionals - on September 20th in Los Angeles, today Lambda Legal announced that it is launching a national "40 and Under" campaign, which highlights Liberty Circle members who make an annual contribution of $1500 or more to the organization and who are 40 and under.

Lambda Legal Director of Development John Westfall-Kwong said,
“In order to help sustain and expand Lambda Legal's work and impact, we are reaching out to a new generation of donors. Lambda Legal is thrilled to announce our national "40 and Under" campaign, which recognizes Liberty Circle members who make an annual contribution of $1500 or more to the organization (or $125 monthly) and who are 40 and under. Lambda Legal’s work for equality depends upon new donors to magnify the important work Lambda Legal does every day. We’ve set an ambitious goal of adding 100 new Liberty Circle members ages 40 and under by the end of 2014. These new donors will be investing in making sure the Liberty Circle remains the backbone of support for Lambda Legal’s work today and into the future.”

The concept was envisioned by Lambda Legal’s Board Members under 40 - Vincent Jones (Los Angeles), Laura Maechtlan (San Francisco), John Richards (DC), Vadim Schick (DC) and Todd Sears (New York) - who wanted to take a leadership role in encouraging their peers to make a significant philanthropic commitment to the organization.

Lambda Legal’s work in the court and in the court of public opinion is made possible by the support of individuals across the country. The organization relies on individuals who want to stand against injustice and invest in a future of equality. The investment, commitment and passion of the Liberty Circle strengthens Lambda Legal’s resolve to make sure that the gains made on behalf of individuals in LGBT and HIV communities throughout the country are secured and that the lives of a new generation of LGBT people and those living with HIV are protected and improved.

The Liberty Circle is a select group of people who have made significant personal commitments to Lambda Legal and the fight for equality. With an annual giving level of $1,500 or more, Liberty Circle members are recognized in Lambda Legal’s Annual Report and will receive numerous other benefits as a thank you for their support. As part of the campaign, Lambda Legal launched a new webpage that will prominently feature members of the campaign from all across the country.
