Sue LaVaccare is the Major Gifts Officer of the Western Regional Office for Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and people with HIV. She is responsible for supporting major donors and expanding the donor base of Lambda Legal’s eleven Western States.
As the Western Region Major Gifts Officer, Sue is responsible for reaching out to the major donors and members in the Western Region who make it possible for Lambda Legal to be the largest and most effective LGBT legal organization in the country. She works to create partnerships with individuals in the Western Region who are willing to give their time, services and commit their financial resources to make Lambda Legal's mission successful.
Sue has a history with Lambda Legal as a donor and has served on the Los Angeles Women’s Summer Soiree Host Committee since 2010. Sue has served on the board of governors of the Human Rights Campaign, the campaign board of the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, and on the board of trustees of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’s Division of Adolescent Medicine’s Champion Fund.
Sue served on the California Women’s Fundraising Council of the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign in 2008. She also served as a caucus observer and helped get out the vote in several states for this campaign. For the past 15 years, she has lobbied the US Congress for worker’s rights, women’s health and rights, and LGBT rights on behalf of several organizations. Sue has volunteered to fundraise and get out the vote for many pro- equality elected officials at the city, state and federal level. Sue served as the Board Liaison for Equality California’s two Boards of Directors in 2009.
Ms. LaVaccare earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. In her free time, Ms. LaVaccare likes to hike, practice yoga, and give back to her community.
