Aron Cobbs serves as the Community Educator in the National Headquarters Office of Lambda Legal, a national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those living with HIV. As a Community Educator, Aron develops and implements public education campaigns to help people exercise the rights they have, and to build public support for equality.
Prior to Lambda Legal, Aron worked at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) National Headquarters Office in the Human Rights and Racial Justice Programs. As a legal assistant at the ACLU, Aron dealt with issues ranging from racial profiling and felony disfranchisement, to the exploitation of migrant female domestic workers and erroneous deportation of persons with mental disabilities in U.S. Immigration and Customs custody.
In service to his community, Aron partners with local organizations to empower, and meet the material and social needs of homeless and transient LGBTQ youth of color. Aron is a board member for FIERCE, a membership-based organization dedicated to building the leadership and power of LGBTQ youth of color in New York City.
In 2007, Aron received his B.A. in Economics and minored in African & African-American Studies from the University of Chicago.
