Jobs: Multimedia Specialist
Lambda Legal seeks a creative digital storyteller to develop compelling video content that helps illustrate the impact of Lambda Legal’s work. The Multimedia Specialist will report to Lambda Legal’s Digital Director and work with the communications and legal teams to bring the impact of Lambda Legal’s work to life through video productions. The Multimedia Specialist will create original digital content using research, reporting, interviewing, writing, editing, and production skills to help Lambda Legal meet strategic goals, including engaging target audiences across platforms.
The position is based in New York. In addition to working closely with others in the Communications Department, the Multimedia Specialist will also support the fundraising team and other departments as necessary.
Lambda Legal is a national nonprofit organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and everyone with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in New York City, Lambda Legal operates regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Multimedia Specialist must have a proven ability to produce compelling stories about complex topics in multiple formats. The Multimedia Specialist must possess the following:
- Video Content Creation
The role will primarily be responsible for conceiving and creating original video content for Lambda Legal’s digital platforms in addition to providing pre- and post-production support including research, interviews, shooting, and editing. You have advanced media production skills, including shooting video and still photography and extensive experience using software for both audio and video recording and editing in Adobe Premiere.
- Photography and Photo Acquisition
You will be the on staff photographer as well as manage the stock photo accounts and licensing. In this capacity you will work with the digital, communications and fundraising teams to streamline photo usage across the organization.
- Understanding of Online Fundraising & Marketing
The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience in leveraging video and graphic content to drive growth in fundraising. You understand how the Lambda Legal development team can leverage video content at events and to grow fundraising revenue.
- Dynamic Writing and Storytelling Skills
You will ensure Lambda Legal tells compelling stories about its clients and help significantly increase audience reach and engagement on digital channels.
- Data Driven
You know how to use data and audience insights to set smart and measureable goals for content pieces, and to assess their success. You proactively participate in testing and optimization of content to increase learning about what works and what doesn’t because you focus on improving results.
- Vendor Management
This role will manage external vendors to provide additional expertise and resources for multimedia projects, as needed.
Qualifications: 3+ years of previous video production experience along with a strong proficiency with Adobe Premiere/Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and audio editing software are essential, as are strong research, interviewing, and writing skills.
