Lambda Legal seeks a Digital Marketing Associate to provide content development, tactical execution and ongoing maintenance of Lambda Legal’s digital properties, including blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and web site. The Digital Marketing Associate reports to the Marketing Director.
Lambda Legal is a national, nonprofit organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (“LGBT”) people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in New York City, Lambda Legal has regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas.
The Education and Public Affairs (EPA) Department leads the community education, communications and marketing efforts of the organization and coordinates with the Legal Department in carrying out our public affairs work. The goals of the EPA Department are to influence the national debate, create public support for Lambda Legal’s impact litigation and for laws that lead to equality for LGBT people and people living with HIV, and increase support for the organization by communicating Lambda Legal’s ideas and achievements to a broad range of audiences. EPA reports and explains the purpose and results of our work, teaches people about their rights under the law, and amplifies the voices of our experts and of affected communities through a variety of media and high-impact education campaigns. EPA also strengthens Lambda Legal’s work by forging strategic partnerships with allies, coalitions and policy makers.
The Digital Marketing Associate (DMA) will manage online marketing campaigns, email communications, and outside marketing partnerships. They will document and report ongoing marketing efforts. S/he will contribute to the strategic development of the website as well as execution and maintenance of web content. They will contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the Lambda Legal blog and develop and execute email marketing programs and plans for growth of the database. The Digital Marketing Associate will help develop and implement content for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube as well as develop and implement online marketing campaigns to advance marketing goals, including visibility and list growth among key targets. This includes development of creative content such as mini-sites, email communications, web video, and advertising copy. S/he will document marketing efforts through creative briefs to ensure advancement of Lambda Legal strategic objectives and the effective use of internal and external resources. They will assist in agency relationships and communications with external marketing partners.
The DMA also manages implementation of online marketing media buys. organizations and volunteers. S/he will also work with other staff to recruit, train and supervise interns.
The ideal candidate will be a cooperative self-starter with good organizational skills who is detail-oriented, able to function well under pressure and handle numerous tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment. A BA or BS degree is required.
The Digital Marketing Associate will possess a strong interest in the organization’s mission and be passionate about related news. S/he will be adept at social media usage and possess insights about audience segments. Experience in non-profit organization and/or marketing experience is a plus as is website content management experience. S/he must have strong written and verbal skills as well as research and problem-solving abilities. A commitment to the advancement of LGBT and HIV civil rights is required.
